Bread Basket

We serve bread in baskets, I made this basket using a bread dough.  Yes this basket is completely weaved with nothing but bread dough.  The inspiration behind this bread  is  this Cornucopia of Wild Yeast.  Every bread lovers must be familiar with this Wild Yeast blog and yeast spotting.  Susan of Wild Yeast blog has made a bread with cone shaped which attracted me a lot. Susan's baking skills never ceases to amaze me, she is a brilliant baker.
I used the same recipe but made a basket shape, may not be a perfectly weaved basket, but still I was happy for the first time.
Get the recipe for the dough from here.
Method:
1. Cover a bowl with baking parchment paper and fold the edges.
2. Then Cover with aluminium foil twice on top of the baking parchment paper.
3. Carefully remove the paper from the bowl holding the shape. Staple the edges and stick it with a tape inside to hold the shape.

4. Now divide the light coloured dough into small balls. Roll out the dough into thin long strips.
5. Keep the mould upside down and start rolling the strips from the bottom of the bowl.
6. Finish rolling till the top of the bowl. Now take one dark coloured dough and roll into a thin long strip.

7. Roll a light coloured dough into thin long strip. Twist both strips and stick it on top of the bowl mould.
8. Preheat the oven to 190 degree Celsius and bake the bread in the preheated oven for 10 minutes.
9. Meanwhile take a strip of aluminium foil and make it like a handle for the basket.
10. Take the bread out from the oven, find a gap between the mould and the bread and insert the handle in the middle of it.
11. Take 3 strips of light coloured and dark coloured dough and roll it into thin long strips. Plait the 3 strips together.
12. Carefully place the plaited strip on top of the handle and seal the edges using water.
13. Bake it in the oven for 5 minutes.
14. Take it out from the oven, remove all the papers and bake for further 10 minutes to cook the inside of the basket.
15. Leave it in a wire rack to cool.
Phew so here is my bread basket tada...

This recipe goes to Suma's baking  event, Yeast spotting.
