After trying out so many recipes for burger buns,this one was really.It may not be like shop bought one but better than that.This recipe for burger bun is adapted from Rosa's Yummy Yums.
Although you can get a nice and cheap burger buns from super market, there are two reasons to make your own bread, first it's healthy,tasty and fresh; second you feel satisfied.
When you make your own bread ,you know what's in your bread.With this recipe i have also added a recipe idea for the buns,but you can make your own burgers using non vegetarian or vegetarian.
White bread flour-450 g
Dried yeast-1 tbsp
Luke warm water-250 ml
1 egg yolk mixed with 1 tbsp of water for glaze
Sesame seeds for sprinkling on top
Combine flour,sugar,salt and yeast; add melted butter,egg and water mix it into a smooth dough. Place the dough in a clean oiled bowl,cover it with a cling film or tea towl and allow it to rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
Take the dough,knead it ,divide the dough into 4 to 5 equal size balls,flatten the balls,place it in a baking tray and cover it ,allow to rise for another 20 to 30 minutes.
Meanwhile preheat the oven to 190 degree celsius.Glaze the buns with egg yolk and sprinkle with sesame seeds.Bake it in the preheated oven for 10 to 12 minutes or golden on top.Take it out from the oven,transfer to a wire rack to cool.
Burger recipe idea:
Grilled boneless chicken-2 flat pieces to fit the size of the bun
Lettuce leaves-1 tbsp shredded
Tomato -1 sliced
Cucumber-4 to 5 pieces sliced
Herb Mayonaise-1 tbsp
Slice the burger buns into half,spread the mayonaise on one slice, arrange the lettuce leaves,tomato and cucumber.On top of that place the chicken,and on top of it cheese slice,cover with the other slice of the bun.
Preheat the oven to 180 degree celsius,place the buns covered inside the oven for about 5 minutes until the cheese melts.Serve warm.
